New members and non – handicap organiser:

The Leicestershire Golf Club has a very active and well-established Ladies' Section, with a membership across a wide age range.  Our aim is to provide enjoyable golf that caters for all abilities and ages of our members in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The Club participates in the County Scratch League 2nd division, Handicap League 1st division, the County Foursomes and the Mixed County Foursomes. Friendly fixtures are also played including those for high/handicap players and senior ladies. There is a very popular Mixed Section with social golf competitions, mixed matches and regular social functions.

Ladies' Competition Day is Tuesday with reserved time slots available for working/business members. Numerous trophies are competed for, together with handicap qualifying and non- qualifying competitions and some with relaxed team/'fun' formats.  Two Open competitions and a Ladies' invitation are organised.

Our golf course is highly acclaimed and maintained to an excellent standard.  The Ladies' course measures 5406 yards and includes 3 par 5 holes to give a par of 71.  Its good drainage allows golf to be enjoyed throughout the winter.  A Winter League competition runs alongside 9 hole competitions during the winter months.

The only restriction is prior to mid-afternoon on Saturdays when men's competitions are held.  Otherwise the course is available to lady members at all usual times, save when tees are booked for matches, societies and club events.

A dress code is in operation:
Collared shirts, round-neck tops, trousers, cut-offs and golf-style shorts and skirts are permitted.
Vest style tops, camouflage or cargo pants and trainers are not permitted.
Denim jeans are not permitted on the course or in the clubhouse

New members are especially welcome. A temporary membership scheme introduced recently has been extremely popular - allowing ladies who have not previously played any significant golf to join for a year at a very competitive rate. (Conditions apply for this membership – the Club Secretary has full details).

For those without handicaps a designated organiser is available to help. The Club seeks to nurture new members and has devised a programme to give guidance and help such members to ‘get going’ with their golf.  Obviously lessons are also available through the Professional's shop.
