Local Rules

1. Out of Bounds

A ball is out of bounds if it is lying beyond any hedge, fence, ditch or brook bounding the course, or is lying on or over the car park, or the paved areas surrounding the Club Buildings. A ball is also out of bounds if at the first hole it is lying beyond the white marker posts and when playing the 10th hole, beyond the footpath, to the rear of the green, marked with white posts, is out of bounds.

2. Footpaths, Roads, Bridges and Artificial Surface.

A ball lying on a footpath or road may be lifted and dropped, within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole, without penalty. Bridges are an integral part of the course and as such offer no relief without penalty. Rule 24-2 applies.

3. Water Hazards.

As defined by yellow posts, are the brook and all ditches and the banks thereof (regardless of whether or not they contain water). Hedges bordering on a water hazard shall be treated as being part of such hazard.

4. Lateral Water Hazards.

As defined by red posts, are the brook on the left of the 2nd hole, the ditches on the left and right of the 7th hole, the ditch on the right of the 11th hole (between the two red posts) and, when playing the 12th hole, the brook to the left of that hole.

5. Newly Planted Areas.

Any newly planted area marked with a white post shall be treated  as ground under repair, and a ball lying therein must be lifted and dropped on the fairway side of the newly planted area, within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole, without penalty.

6. Practice Putting Green.

A ball lying on the practice putting green, or its adjacent flower beds or on the cultivated areas surrounding the Club buildings (provided that such areas are not separated from the course by a paved area as in 1 above) must be lifted and dropped within one club-length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole, without penalty.
