Seniors Welcome

Senior gentlemen members, i.e. those over 60 years of age, who wish to be eligible for senior matches and competitions, are invited to pay the seniors subscription of £3.00 before the beginning of the season. Those club members who become eligible during the season may pay their subscription on their 60th birthday so they can participate for the rest of the season.

The seniors have a ‘roll up’ on Mondays and Thursday’s mornings at 8.15am, throughout the year, weather permitting, for an informal game, followed by refreshments, where new members are always welcome.

We have monthly stableford competitions from March through to October. Including three trophies: - The Simpson Bowl in June, The P E Daniels (Seniors) and The Lockhart Trophy (over70) both in August.

We have an annual foursomes, match play knockout trophy, The Ted Stanger Trophy. The winners then represent the Leicestershire Club in the Leicestershire Seniors Golf Society Foursomes Knockout Competition.

Signed up seniors of our club, are currently members of ‘The Leicestershire Seniors Golf Society’. We like as many members as possible to compete in the Society’s Annual Championship held at a different county club each year. It is an opportunity to play another course at reasonable cost and also have the chance of winning a prize!

Until this season most of our local fixtures have been arranged under the society’s auspices, however , with effect from the end of the 2010 season we will be withdrawing from membership of 'The Leicestershire Seniors Golf Society'. We are reviewing our fixture list for 2011 and plan to continue with many of our current local fixtures. We also hope to have  new fixtures with other notable clubs in nearby counties. We have social fixtures with the juniors, the ladies and senior ladies, including a successful away day for about 24 members. We hold a Seniors Invitation Day for members and their guests in August.

The seniors are social ambassadors for our club and utilise the course and club house at times when the main membership are unable to play.
